IMDB rating: 6.60

Plot: Capitalizing on his fame as the star of “Hogan’s Heroes,” Bob Crane (Greg Kinnear) dove into the freewheeling spirit of the 60s and 70s with relish, having affairs with numerous women. Eventually, Crane teamed up with video technician John Carpenter to document his exploits, an association that may very well have led to his murder in a Scottsdale, Arizona motel room in 1978, which remains officially unsolved to this day.

Will old Sigma lens for Minolta Maxxum 35mm camera fit any good digital cameras?
I have a Sigma auto-focus camera lens that had been used on a Minolta Maxxum 5000 SLR camera. The camera is now gone, but the lens remains. It is a 70mm – 210mm zoom lens with an F4 – F5.6 aperture. I don’t want to go back to film, but that lens worked great. Are there any digital camera that it will fit?

The lens will physically mount on a new Sony DSLR, but that doesn’t mean it will work. I have an old Sigma 35-135 metal monster that is a great lens, but it won’t work on my Sony DSLR. However, it works just fine on my Maxxum 7000. Very good walk-around on that camera. Older Minolta lenses work as advertised on the Sony, but not all the off-brand stuff from the Maxxum days will.

I wouldn’t base my camera purchase decision on that lens… not worth it. You can pick up a Minolta 70-210 F/4 constant aperture lens for about $200 or so, which will be a much better lens to begin with if you decide to go with Sony.

Sony dSLRs have the same lens mount originally designed by Minolta for their Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha SLRs. Which means that your lens would work with these.

The most compatible, straightforward, without changing the mount is to use it on a Sony dSLR. Sony has acquired Konica-Minolta and continues to develop the Minolta mount.

Sigma makes lenses with different mounts. They even make their own digital bodies nowadays. You can try looking for a shop that can change the mount to any of the leading brands if you really like keeping the lens.

Just buy the Sony DSLR of your choice and your lens will work fine. Since Sony has their version of Image Stabilization in the camera body your legacy Sigma lens will be an IS lens.

As others have said, the Minolta AF lens mount is the same as the Sony A mount. However the lens you have is only worth about 30 GBP / 50 USD.

Base your dSLR purchase on your budget and how the camera feels in your hands. Are the buttons and dials in the right place? Do you like the menu system?

All dSLRs take excellent pictures, so brand is irrelevant. Don’t base your dSLR purchase on a cheap lens, new lenses are far superior to that old Sigma.

Having said all that, I am a Sony user (with great old Minolta and Sigma glass) and can highly recommend the Sony range, but you MUST go and hold all brands of camera.

Sony now has the Minolta lens mount but you will want to see if they will fully function. For example, if it will work with the camera light meter. You can check the sony web site but below I listed a site where they have forums to ask these types of questions and I would go there.

Good luck.

If you buy the mount adapter, it is possible. But it is operated by manual mode.
Panasonic micro 4/3 " digital SLR camera can use the old Sigma camera lenses.
Each camera maker has their own specs and it is not so easy to use it usually but
Panasonic micro 4/3" camera has less restrictions about that.
